Description
Heavy silk taffeta fabric is 100% silk and 58/60" wide. Silk taffeta is a luxurious timeless fabric that is tightly woven with fine crosswise ribs composed of silk fibers. This method of construction allows the taffeta to have a matte look, along with wavy patterns that resembles a water stain, with lustrous areas that reflect light differently. In addition, this silk taffeta is a durable, heavy-weight fabric with an elegant drape.
Heavy silk taffeta is crisp and glossy in texture, making a unique rustle sound when moved around. How do I love thee, let me count the ways... This is the best taffeta I have ever used. It has a good weight, an excellent body, and a crisp papery texture. It sewed up beautifully, and I adore the rose pink color. It's just the shade I was looking for. Unfortunately, they only have two colors! This sad fact breaks my heart because I would use THIS taffeta for pretty much everything. I will have to make something green soon. Please add more colors! Please? I made an 18th century jacket out of this, and then embroidered some of my scraps, and covered some shoes to complete the historical ensemble. 10/10, will use this silk for both purposes again. I foresee a lot of pink and green in my future work...
