Official Scholarship Rules

General:

The Fabric Wholesale Direct Scholarship Program (the “Scholarship Program” or “Scholarship”) is sponsored by Fabric Wholesale Direct, Inc. (“Fabric Wholesale Direct”). By entering the Scholarship Program and accepting the terms herein, you agree to be bound by the following rules (“Official Rules”), which constitute a binding agreement between you and Fabric Wholesale Direct.

Eligibility:

Subject to these Official Rules, the Scholarship is open only to United States citizens or permanent residents physically residing in the United States and the District of Columbia, who (i) are at least 18 years old as of the date of application; and (ii) are currently enrolled full time in an accredited 2-4 year technical/vocational college or university, as governed by the U.S. Department of Education website The Scholarship is open to undergraduate students, graduate students, and professional students with at least one full academic year remaining in their relevant program. Scholarship recipients will be required to provide enrollment and unofficial transcript verification.

The Scholarship will not be paid to colleges or universities outside of the United States. The Scholarship is void outside the United States or where prohibited or restricted by law or where bonding, registration, or other requirements would be required but have not been met. All applicable federal, state, and local laws apply.

The Scholarship shall be open to all applicants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, age, or veteran status. Employees of Fabric Wholesale Direct, Inc. and their respective parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, and any other party involved in the development or administration of this Scholarship, and their immediate family members or household members are not eligible to apply or receive a Scholarship. Past recipients may not apply for additional Scholarship awards.

 

Application Period:

Fabric Wholesale Direct will select two Scholarship recipients during the 2020 – 2021 academic year. Applications will open at 11:59 PM PST on September 30th, 2020 for the first Scholarship round and must be received by 11:59 PM PST on January 7th, 2021. Applications received after this deadline will automatically be applied to the next deadline, May 1st, 2021 at 11:59 PM PST. Scholarship recipients will be selected and notified within sixty (60) days of the application deadline.

 

How to Enter:

Applications must be submitted online on the Scholarship page. Applicants will be required to submit their personal contact information, academic information (including overall average grade point average (“GPA”) at the time the application is submitted) , credit habits, and career related objectives. Applicants will also be required to write an essay answering a specified essay prompt. The essay text will be submitted into a text box in the overall application form on the Scholarship page. Multiple entries will not increase the odds of winning. Fabric Wholesale Direct will not use, publicly display, distribute, publish, create derivatives of, use in promotional materials, or copy your application and responses without your written consent. Fabric Wholesale Direct expressly reserves the right to disqualify any applicant and/or applications that are inaccurate, incomplete, or that Fabric Wholesale Direct believes in good faith to be generated by an automated means or scripts or are the result of plagiarism. Applications generated by script, macro, or other automated means, are void. Applicants must submit original content. Applicants must not submit content that violates or infringes another’s rights, including, but not limited to, privacy, publicity or intellectual property rights. More specifically, applicants must not in any way mention, refer or otherwise allude to the name, brand, product, logo, or trademark of any third party. No images may be submitted. Applicants must not submit content that is inappropriate, indecent, lewd, pornographic, obscene, hateful, tortious, defamatory, slanderous or libelous (as determined by Fabric Wholesale Direct at its sole discretion). Applicants must not disparage Fabric Wholesale Direct, or any other person or party affiliated with the promotion and administration of this Scholarship.

 

Student Information:

All information collected as a part of the Fabric Wholesale Direct Scholarship Program will be used for the purposes of the Scholarship award. Fabric Wholesale Direct will not sell any information submitted as a part of the Scholarship application process to any third-parties.

 

Available Scholarships – The Fabric Wholesale Direct Scholarship: Two (2) $1,500 Scholarships

Fabric Wholesale Direct will select two Scholarship recipients during the 2020 – 2021 academic year. Fabric Wholesale Direct will award a check made payable to the Scholarship recipient’s accredited college or university after receiving proof of enrollment. Recipients are required to have a full academic year remaining in their relevant program to receive the Scholarship. Scholarships that are not used for the academic term for which they are awarded will be forfeited. If any potential recipient fails to provide proof of identity, proof of enrollment, is found to have violated the Official Rules, or otherwise does not meet eligibility criteria, or if it becomes impossible or impractical to use the Scholarship for the purpose designated, or if the Scholarship is determined to be in conflict with any federal, state, or local law, regulation, or ordinance, then the Scholarship will be forfeited and may be awarded at Fabric Wholesale Direct’s sole discretion to an alternate applicant, subject to verification of eligibility.

Scholarships may not be assigned or transferred. No cash equivalent Scholarship will be awarded. The awarding of any Scholarship is contingent upon full compliance with these Official Rules. Fabric Wholesale Direct is not responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing of the Scholarship, the administration of the Scholarship, or in the announcement of the Scholarship.

 

Selection of Recipients:

Completed Scholarship applications will be reviewed by neutral representatives of Fabric Wholesale Direct, that are qualified based on the identified application criteria, to determine the recipient of each Scholarship in Fabric Wholesale Direct’s sole discretion. Applications will be judged based on the following criteria: GPA, written communication skills, commitment to financial literacy, personal credit management, academic ability, and overall application strength. In the event of a tie, Fabric Wholesale Direct representatives will hold a phone or video conference with the applicants to determine a single Scholarship recipient for that Scholarship period. All decisions are final. Fabric Wholesale Direct reserves the right not to award a Scholarship if, in its sole discretion, it does not receive any qualified applications.

 

Recipient Notification:

Scholarship recipients will be notified via the contact information provided to Fabric Wholesale Direct during the application process, which can be via email, mail, or phone. If an award notification is returned as undeliverable or a potential recipient does not supply the required verification within the time specified, the award will be forfeited and may be awarded to an alternate recipient at Fabric Wholesale Direct’s sole discretion.

 

Award Payment:

The Scholarship will be awarded to the recipient and paid directly to his/her accredited college or university for tuition for the academic term following their win. No Scholarship monies will be paid directly to the recipient. No payment of any Scholarship will be granted until Fabric Wholesale Direct is able to verify enrollment and GPA at the educational institution.

 

Publicity Release and License

By participating in the Scholarship, recipient irrevocably grants to Fabric Wholesale Direct the perpetual right, without any liability to any person or entity, to reproduce, adapt, transmit, distribute, communicate, make available, and otherwise use any submission in any medium and in any manner, now or hereafter known, without further permission or compensation to recipient.

Except where prohibited by law, recipient authorizes and irrevocably grants permission for Fabric Wholesale Direct, and those acting in its authority, to use recipient’s name, likeness, photograph, Scholarship information, including essay content, the name of recipient’s educational institution and field of study, video recordings, digital images, audio recordings, and all other media now known or hereafter discovered, for promotional purposes without further permission or compensation.

 

General Terms:

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICANTS AND RECIPIENTS AGREE TO RELEASE FABRIC WHOLESALE DIRECT, ITS EMPLOYEES, REPRESENTATIVES, AGENTS, CONTRACTORS, ASSIGNS, ADVERTISERS, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, AND SHAREHOLDERS FROM ANY AND ALL LIABILITY, LOSS, DAMAGE, COST, CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH, DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, THEIR PARTICIPATION IN THE SCHOLARSHIP, THE SCHOLARSHIP SELECTION, THE SCHOLARSHIP ADMINISTRATION PROCESS, OR THE AWARD OF OR THE USE OF SCHOLARSHIPS.

Fabric Wholesale Direct is not responsible for lost or incomplete applications or technical, hardware, software or telephone failures of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, fraud, incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmissions, whether caused by Fabric Wholesale Direct, users, by any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of submissions which may damage a user’s system, or limit a user’s ability to participate in this Scholarship. Fabric Wholesale Direct reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel or suspend this Scholarship Program should a virus, bug, computer problem, unauthorized human intervention, or other cause beyond Fabric Wholesale Direct’s control inhibit or corrupt the administration, security, or fairness of the Scholarship Program, and Fabric Wholesale Direct may disqualify any person who engages in or attempts any such activity.

Fabric Wholesale Direct reserves the right to modify or terminate the Scholarship Program at any time for any reason in its sole discretion, with or without notice. Scholarship recipient is solely responsible for any state or federal tax liability in association with acceptance of the Scholarship. If any provision of the Official Rules of this Scholarship shall be held void, voidable, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. Void where prohibited by law. Except as regarding any action seeking equitable relief, including without limitation for the purpose of protecting any Fabric Wholesale Direct confidential information and/or intellectual property rights, any controversy or claim arising out of or relating to the Scholarship Program or these Official Rules shall be settled by binding arbitration in accordance with the commercial arbitration rules, in effect at the time the proceedings begin, of the American Arbitration Association. Any such controversy or claim shall be arbitrated on an individual basis and shall not be consolidated in any arbitration with any claim or controversy of any other party. The arbitration shall be held in the state of New York.
