I love the longer days of summer and try to use the extra daylight hours to squeeze in time to be active. One of my favorite sports to play is tennis, and I have wanted to make another athletic skirt to wear when I am out on the courts this summer.

The skirt that I chose to make with you for this post today is the Pace Skirt by Greenstyle Creations. This skirt pattern includes an optional undershorts or briefs, and I love to use the undershorts because the pockets are just the right size for me to hold tennis balls in.

Supplies:

  • Fabric: 2 yards of ponte fabric or stretch woven. I used the white Ponte De Roma
  • Pattern: the Greenstyle Pace Skirt
  • Coordinating thread
  • Measuring tape
  • Sewing machine (optional serger)
  • Iron for pressing
  • Clips (or pins)
  • Marking tool
  • Scissors

Time:

1.5 to 2 hours

Difficulty:

Medium

LET'S GET STARTED!

  1. Select your skirt and undershorts size in the pattern based on your hip measurement. Select the size to use on your waistband based on your waist measurement. If you are using Ponte fabric like I did, size down one size in the skirt only. If you are using stretch woven (available here), use your measured size for all pattern pieces.
  2. After selecting your size, print, tape, and cut out your pattern pieces.
  3. Now, you can watch me sew the pattern! I demonstrate each step of the way, including how to sew the pleats, how to make the skirt, undershorts, and waistband!

  1. You are finished! Thanks for sewing with me today. I hope you stay active and healthy in your new skirt!
